A senior may not have a suitable person available to serve as an agent under a health care or durable power of attorney or someone to serve as a trustee under a revocable living trust or an irrevocable trust. Iowa Senior Advocates may be able to serve as the fiduciary, or they may assist you in finding a suitable person.
A Medicaid applicant is required to surrender his or her life insurance policy, if the cash value in the policy is more than the countable asset limit allowed by the Medicaid rules. Iowa Senior Advocates provide a wide variety of educational opportunities.
